Field Camp Youth Expeditions’
Spring Break in Utah’s National Parks

Zion National Park is world famous for its natural splendor and breath taking views. Visitors often describe the atmosphere as both awe-inspiring and humbling, as most of the exploration takes place from the canyon floor looking up at the massive Navajo Sandstone cliffs.

Field Camp Youth Expeditions was fortunate to have the support of Toyya Mahoney, an outdoor recreation planner with the National Park Service. Her efforts created learning experiences for our campers from Zion National Park Rangers who talked about the sandstone, hydrology and the millions of years involved in carving out the canyon that is Zion. Special thanks to Ranger Charlie who, late in the evening, brought a powerful telescope to our campsite to make use of the stargazing benefit of Zion National’s efforts to eliminate light pollution that has earned an international designation as a Dark Sky Park. (Learn more about light pollution)

Wilderness Works in Zion National Park

Braving the switchbacks on the way up to Scout Lookout, Field Campers were rewarded with the incredible vista of the Big Bend portion of Zion National Park.

Field Camp Youth Expeditions is thankful to Joel and Pam Lackey for their support and sponsorship of this once in a lifetime adventure!
